The Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition is Seattle’s member-led non-profit organization for advancing the arts in Uptown. We strengthen and support an important network of people—artists and arts professionals, cultural organizations, businesses, neighborhood residents, civic leaders and policymakers —all working to increase the participation in and evolution of arts and culture in the Uptown neighborhood and across Seattle.
While we serve more than forty-five arts and cultural organizations, we also serve every Uptown resident, Seattleite, arts patron, and tourist by working diligently to bring the arts to all people through advocacy, relationship building and research.
The arts are essential to human and community vitality.
All people have a right to access to the arts.
Cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration have the power to ignite creativity and create community.
A Message from the UACC Executive Committee
In 2017, those key aspects of our work put our organization on a path to future growth and success. This year marked the approval of the Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition both as an official Arts & Culture District of Seattle and as a Washington State Non-Profit.
In this seminal year of 2018, we sought input from stakeholders within Uptown and across the city to inform our priorities and our mission. We launched several foundational infrastructure elements to allow us to be resilient and responsive in the years to come.
Seattle faces some unique challenges and opportunities in continuing rapid change and economic growth.
As we shared with our members on the brink of 2018, we will continue to make the case for arts and culture as a cornerstone of healthy, inspired, and equitable communities; a safeguard against racism; a champion of freedom of expression; a driver of economic prosperity; a bridge between cultures; a creator of empathy; and a venue for dialogue, respectful criticism, healing and hope.
We know that the arts--and this extraordinary community of arts supporters, professionals, and leaders--will continue to make lasting, positive impacts.
Thank you for working with us, thank you for championing the arts in our community, and thank you for believing in the transformative power of the arts.
